RCRA

Redwood Coast Rural Action 

RCRA is a dynamic network of diverse regional leaders who have identified areas of focus and developed an agenda for local, regional and statewide action.  RCRA was founded in 2002 and spans Del Norte, Humboldt, Trinity, & Mendocino Counties in Northern California.   Originally convened by Humboldt State University, College of the Redwoods and Humboldt Area Foundation, RCRA is emerging as an effective vehicle for all community leaders to join together to create the future of our choosing. The five key areas of focus identified by RCRA leaders are:

 BUILDING economic bases and regional workforces.
 INCREASING economic success of poor and working families.
 ADVANCING the care and use of regional natural resources.
 ELEVATING access to health care.
 IMPROVING transportation and housing opportunities.

Building collective knowledge and the action that will follow is what Redwood Coast Rural Action is about.  This partnership is bringing a new, vibrant conversation to a region formed naturally through commerce, culture and geography.   It embraces the challenge to provide the context for citizen leaders in rural regions here and elsewhere to emerge, work, learn, problem-solve and initiate joint, cohesive action to deal with issues of common concern that will determine their collective future.
