The Work
Current Priorities:
Redwood Futures
Redwood Futures is a collaboration of diverse players from the entire redwood bioregion who are developing an actionable plan to revitalize the region's ecology and economy. Elements of the vision include:
- A region with a shared identity and shared sense of ownership for its activities and a shared commitment to creating a future together.
- A place that mobilizes and focuses its resources toward the future through sustainable practices and simultaneously takes into consideration the ecological, economic and social equity issues as they relate to forests and communities.
- Forests that provide a variety of conservation values across the landscape.
- A vibrant natural resources economy providing a broad range of employment and business opportunities for residents.
- Managed forests that have mature forest characteristics providing high quality wood, high quality habitat for a diversity of species and fire resiliency.

Redwood Coast Connect
Redwood Coast Connect is a project working towards the goal of making broadband available to all rural communities in Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity Counties through assessing and mapping the needs of users, engaging telecom providers, simplifying policies and tapping the ingenuity of entrepreneurs in the region. The first phase of this project, analyzing the current demand, supply and policy climate has been completed and the report can be found here.

Transportation
Rural transportation has been identified as an area of focus, and RCRA is actively engaged with efforts to help ensure rural voices are included as new legislation is crafted at all levels; locally, state and nationally. Local RCRA leaders are part of the National Rural Assembly's working group for transportation, and Kathy Moxon serves as Co-Chair of this effort. Watch Kathy describe rural livability and why it's essential here.
